I recently ran a Bicycle Collective pop up at a unique cinema event in Cambridge. It was a lot of fun, I love meeting customers and talking to them about cycling and the benefits of riding a bicycle. Meeting other stall holders is also always really interesting; hearing their journey to selling all sorts of different products. At this event there was a social enterprise from Sri Lanka selling coconut based products, a unique recycled bookstore, handmade ice cream, sustainable living products and handmade clothing.
This is has been shaping my thoughts for 2019, there was a clear theme of artisan, hand crafted, social and sustainable stories. For me this can all be captured in the idea of ‘Living Well’. Now this isn’t about preaching evangelical about how everyone should be leading their lives. This is about your own personal interpretation on how best to look after yourself, the people and environment around you. Part of my Living Well principles are riding my bike because I love being outdoors, getting from A to B as efficiently as possible, plus the added bonus of exercise and the sustainable side of pedal power. It captures many elements of what Living Well means to me. There are lots and lots of others from spending time with my family, the challenge of my job to appreciating a good cup of coffee. Helping others and living more sustainably are more examples and areas I want to work on this year.
So there it is, I wanted to write this blog to share the idea of Living Well to get us all thinking about what we can do to look after what we’ve got. It’s our big theme at the Bicycle Collective this year, we’ve got loads of ideas around this and are really excited about sharing them with you, so keep a look out.
Wishing you all a brilliant 2019.
